Follow your Dreams - Kathy Mursch

Have you ever seen the movie “Rudy”? In the movie Rudy is a young man who faces incredible odds and through sheer perseverance and persistence becomes a walk-on player for Notre Dame.

I feel like Rudy. My name is Kathy Mursch and I’m just like you. I have been an avid fan of TJC almost since its inception. I have been awed by the jewelry. I have enjoyed watching the hosts. I have loved watching the price plunges. I have spent countless hours logged onto the internet watching the show. I love watching TJC!

As I was watching TJC a dream began to grow within me. I wanted to be a host. The more I watched the show the more I felt the desire to be on TV. I knew this was entirely illogical because I have no TV background. I’m a life coach. Other than my public speaking experience I have no qualifications that would equip me to work as a host on a national TV show.

As a life coach I always encourage my clients to think big, to think outside of the box. How could I encourage my clients to go for it in life if I didn’t go for my dream myself? I knew I had to apply.

There is only one word to describe the interview/screen test process: terrifying. Absolutely terrifying. There is no better way to describe it. But I went for it, and I am now a freelance host!

My dream doesn’t end there. My dream continues to grow. I want to use this blog to take you behind the scenes here at TJC. Consider me your reporter on the inside. I’ll tell you what it’s like to prepare for a show. I’ll let you know what it’s like inside the studio and the green room. I’ll answer your burning questions.

So what do you want to know? Do you want to know if Shaggy is really shaggy? Are you interested in knowing whether Dan Dennis ever goes home or if he just sleeps at TJC? (He is here a LOT.) Would you like to know what Michele Lau said to me that almost made me cry? (Hint: it was very kind.)

Send your burning questions to studio@tjc.tv. Put “Kathy’s blog” in the subject line. I will answer as many questions as I can for you in this blog. Check back here for further updates and in the meantime the life coach in me says “Play big. Live big. Watch TJC. And go for your dreams!
