The fashions of fall, the holiday season must haves, birthdays on the way, and the sweet early trends of next spring all have a place with the stone we look at this week. We will celebrate the “Colors of Turquoise” in Karyn’s Korner- and not just color but STYLE!!! This week I will bring together all the best collections of turquoise, from Mojave to Sleeping Beauty, Artisan to Santa Fe, and even some cameo and panda bead designs. Something for every turquoise lover to enjoy! Turquoise is a December birthstone and we even have designs that incorporate Turquoise and Tanzanite (another December birthstone) in one design. Also, the spring collections that have just hit the runways this last month are looking whimsical and light – there are some beautiful designs in this show that will have you dressed for the runway today! I’m a big turquoise fan and all my favorite items are in the show so it was hard to pick just a few to showcase here in the blog – here is a vision of the colors you will see:

September is just around the corner and that means it’s time for a very special Sapphire edition of Karyn’s Korner! The kids are back in school, the temperatures are cooling and we look to the cool blue and fancy colors of our favorite precious gemstone. So many of you have been requesting sapphire the past few weeks, I’m so excited to bring you a loaded show of top requests. We had such a great show last week, I had to really look hard to make sure we got even more exciting designs this week. GOOD NEWS….we just received a huge shipment of new styles and we will have lots of new looks! Just in time for summer, we have a new suite of Sunstone and another stone that always makes me think of summer is Opal. We have beautiful fire brilliant Ethiopian Opal in lots of styles. The first hour at 9am will have our favorite Artisan styles, lots of new and unique collections at 10am and amazing luxury at 11am. If you love Kyanite you are in for a treat, we have a new Kyanite bead necklace and some coordinating pieces. Also, if anyone is looking to invest in a loose diamond, we will have two choices in our luxury hour, both over 1.25 cts!

It’s the Finale of the Summer Sizzler week! Karyn’s Korner will feature Fire Opal and Apatite gemstones as well as requests and some of my Host picks. EVERYTHING WILL BE UNDER $100!!! This week has been a record setting week in television here at Liquidation Channel. No home shopping station has ever been under $100 for an entire week and we have so many of you to thank for requests and incredible response to our shows. NEW DAY, NEW TIME and LOTS of NEW ITEMS! I’m so thrilled to meet everyone and have fun in my new Saturday timeslot. This is the first time Karyn’s Korner will be in the afternoon, and I will bring out our best for the first show. Karyn’s Korner is all about Fun, Variety, New and Unique designs, as well as hearing from customers and bringing out requested items. We will have some beautiful Amber that has never been seen before in all styles and designs. I had some requests for high end pearls, so I’ll also bring out some beautiful Tahitian pearls for June birthday girls. Pearls are so beautiful in long strands and lots of summer color; we’ll have some fun and fabulous looks. Another request came in for morganite that I think everyone will truly love. I’ve found some big bold styles in gold and some beautiful affordable designs in silver.

I just got back from the JCK Vegas show, and one thing I noticed in force was stackable rings. Once again, we here at Liquidation Channel are on the cutting edge of fashion trends with our blast from the 80’s stackable Tulip Rings. Designed to perfection in 14k Gold, the Tulip rings have been one of the most discussed and welcomed designs we have had here and you will have another opportunity to get one or all three on Saturday.

I have waited for months to bring you this week’s show! Elanza is a personal favorite of mine and this Monday we will spend the first two hours of Karyn’s Korner on all the glitter and glamor of Elanza. We will have big bold beautiful pieces and true classics that will be your favorites as well.

My third hour at 8am will have LOTS of requested items. Bobbi, Linda, Rachel, Bitty, – I’ve been looking for the items you requested through the week and I think I’ve been able to find something for everyone. I can’t always guarantee a request can be fulfilled, but when I can, I know everyone smiles. Also, we will dance back to the 80’s again and have a blast with TULIP RINGS! If you missed last weeks show we brought back the hottest ring set in American history – to perfection! The fabulous Tulip rings are all in solid 14K gold and absolutely beautiful.

TULIP RINGS ARE BACK!!!! Ok ladies….remember when…it’s the mid 80’s and the hottest rings on the market were a trilogy of precious rings called Tulip Rings. We all wanted them and the dream was to have all three...they are here, they are back, and now we finally get to make it happen! When I first found out that we would bring these rings back I was thrilled! They are perfect in solid 14k Gold. Last week we had so many requests for more Emeralds after the Colombian Emerald ring flew out the door in Karyn’s Korner, so this week I have put together an incredible presentation showcasing all the precious gemstones. The first week of Karyn’s Korner was “Soooo Much FUN!” LOL ! Truly, we had a great time, played games, took care of wonderful requests, and introduced Cameos. I was so happy to hear from all of you and we are looking at another PACKED show this Sunday starting at 6am CT! We have had requests for Ametrine, Alexandrite, and Morganite, so I have found some really pretty pieces for everyone. Hello ALL, it’s Karyn , writing my first Karyn’s Korner blog!! I am so excited to write you and let everyone know about my new show on Monday October 11th 6am CT! First of all I want to thank all our viewers for their wonderful requests these last few weeks. The first show looks to be PACKED with great jewelry of all styles. Here’s the inside track…we move fast here, and with a new arrival of Santa Fe Style collection pieces, this Monday Oct 11th is now scheduled to be a Santa Fe Style DAY. Oh MY! It looks amazing. Karyn’s Korner will have some of my favorite picks form the Santa Fe Style collection but I’ve added customer requests y from pearls to Rhapsody. I went into the vault and hand-picked many of the items you will see in the show; I know “You will Love IT!” I even brought my camera and took some pictures of new pieces just as they arrived. The J. Frances Collection will finally be revealed Saturday morning at 12:01 AM. Yes, my friends, the wait is finally over.
For more than 3 months, you have seen the commercials and heard little tid bits about this amazing designer from the Pacific Northwest, but now you will finally get to see her amazing designs that will only be available through The Liquidation Channel.
Now, I can’t give too many secrets before the big, national launch hosted by yours truly! But what I can tell you is that you will see amazing pieces that will take your breath away. So many of the pieces were inspired by her trips around the world, while others resemble the beauty of nature. I am confident that no matter what you style is, you will find a piece that fits your personal taste. The Meaning of May - Michelle Mortensen

When I was a child, I dreaded the month of May. For me it meant the school year was coming to a close. I was one of those kids who preferred school over the freedom of summer days. I would miss my friends, I would miss learning, and it would mean I would have to go to summer camp. I hated “Roughin’ It” Day Camp. My brother loved it and I was forced to attend because he liked it. If you know anything about me, roughing it means staying at a motel over a hotel. I don’t do the outdoors. I hated that camp with a passion and could not wait to get back to the confines of my wonderful elementary school.

As I got older, the month of May metamorphosed from a month I hated to a month I loved. Eventually it became the month that meant I was graduating from college. A few years later it became the month of fabulous summer kick-off parties. Last year it became the month when I won my first Emmy award.

And this month it also holds special significance. On May 22nd, I’ll find out if I have won my second Emmy. On May 23^rd, LOST will be coming to an end. (You know I love TV.)

And on May 31^st, we will be celebrating Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is a pretty amazing holiday. It is a day set aside for us to remember the men and women who died while in military service. The day was first recognized after the Civil War but back then it was known as Decoration Day. In fact, it wasn’t officially called Memorial Day until 1967. It didn’t become the last Monday of the month until 1971.

While I don’t personally know someone who has died during military service, I have reported on hundreds of young men and women who have given their life for this country.

I covered the beginning of the Iraq War and was reporting live the day Baghdad fell. I remember being in Jr. High when the Gulf War began. I can remember watching CNN and seeing bombs going off at night in the Middle East. I remember watching reporters like Wolf Blitzer in the midst of a war zone hoping one day I would do the same.

To this day, when I see my grandfather, who is 90 years old, we talk about his time in World War II fighting in the Philippines. He was in the Navy and worked as an engineer. He remembers quite vividly the attacks on the Philippines. He tells the stories so vividly, it is as if they happened yesterday.

While the month of May has meant many things to me over the years, I can say this with all certainty, honoring the men and women who have died for our country, for freedom, and for everything we have today, is one of the most important things we can do. I am so proud to be an American and for everything this country stands for: freedom.

This Memorial Day, I hope you will take some time to remember those who have given their lives for our freedom. And to everyone reading this, who has served in the military, please know I think you are so brave and I thank you for every sacrifice you made.

On Memorial Day, many of us will do something to celebrate. Some of you will have parties, some of you will be with family and some of you may be joining us. If you plan on making The Liquidation Channel part of your family over the holiday weekend, let me say thank you. We are honored to spend the time with you. As a special treat, we will also be unveiling some great surprises. The Magic of Moonstone - Michelle Mortensen

Spring has definitely sprung. You see it everywhere you turn. Flowers are starting to bloom, the days are getting longer, and in the stores spring fashions have arrived. Two of the biggest trends for Spring & Summer are fashions in natural, nude tones and pretty pastels. Personally, I love both trends, but I feel the natural, nude colored palettes are the best choice to showcase the one thing we all love: jewelry.

When wearing an outfit showcasing a skin tone palette, such as beige, cream or dusty rose, you may have a tendency to pair gold jewelry or bright stones to add a bit of flair. One of the most dramatic and fashion forward accessories you could choose though, would be a piece featuring rainbow moonstone.

Rainbow moonstone shimmers in the light and explodes into a prism of colors that is equally romantic and intoxicating. Imagine, adding a huge moonstone pendant and bracelet to your outfit. All of a sudden, you’ve taken something that could appear a little drab and made it fab!

We recently got in a multi-strand of moonstone beads that I feel should be a part of every woman’s collection. The beads are three strands of glistening white, but when the light hits the faceted stones you’ll see brilliant blues, yummy yellows, and pretty pinks. I love it, because it can be worn as a classic piece, like a strand of pearls but also have a very modern, fresh and young feel.

So this Spring, consider adding a rainbow moonstone piece to your collection. It is sure to turn a lot of heads and get you thousands of compliments. You’ll be well on your way to becoming the fashionista everyone admires most.

My Fashion Love Affair - Michelle Mortensen

When I was a little girl, I didn’t dream of becoming a model or a princess one day. I was a very determined child who instead wanted to change the world. Even in elementary school, when people asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would said one of two possibilities. I was either going to be the President of the United States, or a TV journalist. I was very serious about pursuing both fields. For example, in high school I ran for every elected office I could and won all of them. I was also editor of our school paper. I was an over achiever to say the least. And while I did normal teen things like join the cheer leading team and went to parties, I never really focused on fashion. Trust me; I have the pictures to prove it.

Perms were in, trust me.

How 1990’s was I???

When I went to college, I became more aware of fashion and more aware of the fact that I knew nothing about it. I was a Californian with no fashion sense going to a school in Texas where fashion was everything. It was in college I learned about Big Name Designers and popular shopping stores, but I still never really grasped the concept of fashion. As a double major in Broadcast Journalism and Politics (shocking I know) I focused more on my future career than how I looked. Trust me; I have the pictures to prove this, too!

When I graduated from college, I immediately began my career as a TV News Anchor & Reporter. To this day, I am amazed anyone hired me, because I was a fashion mess!! I cut my hair to look like a stereotypical TV anchor: a really, really big bob. I looked more like an old fashioned Donna Reed than young news professional. I wore dark suits so I wouldn’t appear young, but as a result I looked like a younger Barbara Walters. There was nothing fashion forward about me. Trust me; I don’t just have pictures, I have hours and hours of video to support this.

I didn’t really grasp the world of fashion until 2005, when I took a job in Northern New York. As luck would have it, I often had to go to Montreal, Canada, while I was there.

Montreal is an amazing city. For many, Montreal is the Paris of North America. It is very fashion forward and, in my opinion, very fabulous.

One day while in the city, a man came up to me and said he watched me on TV all the time and would love to help me with my makeup and fashions. He owned his own makeup line and worked with models around the world. I gladly took him up on his offer to help me get a bit more fashion forward.

Within weeks I had mastered the art of hair and makeup and was ready to take on the world of fashion. I began to study fashion, clothing and designers. Before I knew it, other anchors and reporters were coming to me for fashion advice. The tables had truly turned. The ugly duckling had finally become a swan.

When I was younger, I ignored fashion in an effort to be taken more seriously or appear smart, but the opposite happened. I just looked like a mess. Embracing fashion can actually make you be taken more seriously. And fashion doesn’t have to be crazy. Lady Gaga may be one of the most fashion forward celebs around, but you don’t have to dress like her to be fashion forward, yourself.
Over the next few weeks, I am going to share some of my fashion secrets, talk about fashion trends, and of course, jewelry in the new blog called, The Fashion Fix.

Together, we can talk about all things fashionable and really take our looks to the next level, because if you are going to be a star in your workplace and at home, you should look like one!!
